Avatar’s new-home sales triple in Sterling Hill
December 05, 2005
Since the beginning of this year, Avatar Properties Inc. sold 69 homes worth more than $16 million – three-times the homes sold last year – at Sterling Hill, a master-planned gated community in southwestern Hernando County.
The average price of a new home is $243,008 including homesite, says Francesca Vereb, director of marketing for the gulf coast and south Florida operations of Avatar Properties Inc. Most homes were purchased by families and first-time buyers.
Avatar’s most popular models include the Lily and Azalea. The 2,033-square-foot Lily has three bedrooms and two baths, as well as a covered lanai. The two-story, 2,165-square-foot Azalea – with four bedrooms and 2.5 baths – features a first-floor master suite, as well as an optional media room or loft.
There are just 12 Avatar homes left in the villages of Mandalay Place and Dunwoody in Sterling Hill. However, plans include 97 additional homes in Covey Run – the community’s latest village.
When completed, Sterling Hill – a Devco community – will have 1,249 homes. Among its community amenities are a clubhouse with fitness center; resort-style pool; tennis and basketball courts; as well as picnic areas and biking trails.
Avatar Properties is the development arm of Avatar Holdings Inc., a public company primarily engaged in real estate operations in Florida and Arizona. Avatar Holdings has earned several APEX Awards from Big Builder magazine, including recognition as America’s top home builder for most innovative product design in both homes and communities.
Just east of the Tampa Bay area, Avatar is developing TerraLargo in Lakeland. It also builds in Tampa’s Cory Lake Isles. Elsewhere, Avatar develops or builds in the major master-planned communities of Poinciana, Solivita and Bellalago, near Orlando; and Woodslanding and Harbor Islands in south Florida.
Sterling Hill is at 4344 Brackfield Loop, Spring Hill. To reach the community, take U.S. 19 north and turn right onto Spring Hill Drive. Turn left on Barclay Road, then left on Elgin.
