Husband and wife post holes-in-one just minutes apart at Solivita®
March 26, 2009
POINCIANA, FL --- When Solivita® staged its version of the Ryder Cup golf tournament recently, residents from the United States bested residents from other countries when Glenn and Donna Korpi ended the men's and women's matches in unique fashion by posting holes-in-one just minutes apart.Playing on the community's Oaks course, Glenn ended the men's team match at the par-3 12th by holing a 6 iron from 168 yards out. Minutes later, Donna aced the par-3 15th with a 9 iron from 115 yards out to end the ladies' team match.
"As soon as I hit it I said 'I hope it doesn't go in because I'll have to buy drinks for everyone and it's going to cost me a mint'," said Glenn. It did and he did, but Glenn said it was well worth the experience.
The men's team had barely finished celebrating Glenn's ace on 12 when Donna, playing in a women's foursome just ahead of the men, posted her very first hole-in-one on 15.
"The odds of that happening are absolutely enormous. It's likely that a feat of this nature may never have been achieved before," said fellow golfer Marty Cohn, who heads up Solivita's® Blue Tees group and also serves as sales director at the upscale, active adult community being developed by Avatar® Properties Inc. on the Polk County side of Poinciana.
It was the second ace for Glenn, his first coming two years ago when he holed a 3 iron from 206 yards out at the 16th hole on Solivita's® Cypress course.
Natives of Michigan, Glenn and Donna play golf three times a week, he to a 12 handicap, and she to a 23 handicap.
