Another New Tampa gated community is adding town homes to the neighborhood mix.
Avatar Properties announced that construction of the first of 172 town homes planned for Cory Lake Isles will begin this month. Site development is under way.
The three- and four-bedroom units will be priced in the high $200,000s and offer 1,900 to 2,700 square feet of living space, according to Avatar's construction announcement.
There will be six floor plans for the town homes, to be built in groups of four and six residences.
Anticipating strong demand, Avatar (http://www.avatarhomes.com) has created a reservation list requiring that prospective buyers put down a $5,000 refundable deposit.
Two years ago, Transeastern Homes utilized a similar reservation system to market The Hammocks, a 500-unit town home project on County Line Road.
Cory Lake Isles owner/developer Gene Thomason said multifamily housing is part of the master plan of the 600-acre community fronting Cross Creek Boulevard and Morris Bridge Road.
The town homes will be near the community's Morris Bridge Road entrance, Thomason said.
Thomason conceded that the condominium market in some areas "has slowed down somewhat. It depends on what you're building, what you're selling and where it's at. The marketing timing is the best … right now for what we're doing."
US Home began town home construction last month in neighboring Arbor Greene. Those 159 three- and four-bedroom units also will be priced in the high $200,000s.
